How can I integrate .tel into my address books?

You can download free plug-ins that integrate your .tel into address books.

These plug-ins enhance address books with live data stored within .tel domains.
.tel plug-ins are available for Microsoft Outlook, BlackBerry devices and Windows Mobile devices.

Outlook

Once you have downloaded the .tel plug-in for Outlook, a .tel toolbar will appear.

Using this toolbar, you can
  1. Create a new entry into your address book using a .tel domain.
  2. Update an existing entry using a .tel domain.

For example, when you enter 'emma.tel', and click the 'Go' button, Emma's contact details stored in her .tel will appear. Searching for emma.tel in Outlook

You can then choose to:

Create a new contact for Emma if she is not already in your address book

or

update Emma's existing contact information.
Click to add Emma as a new contact


Create a new contact

.If you choose to create a new contact record for Emma, Outlook will use the details stored in Emma's .tel domain to create a new address book record. All Emma's info is automatically added to an Outlook contact.  Simply click Save and Close and you're done.

Update an existing contact.

If you choose to update Emma's existing contact information, you can select which details from Emma's .tel you wish to update.

The contact details you choose to update will be overwritten with the live info from emma.tel
   
You click 'Update' for the data you selected and your contact information for Emma will be instantly updated. Clicking update an existing contact
   
 

BlackBerry

A downloadable plug-in has also been developed for BlackBerrys.

This plug-in allows you to:
Add .tel domains into your BlackBerry address book.  Look up .tel domains from the BlackBerry address book.  Save specific contact details stored in a .tel domain directly into the BlackBerry address book
   
Once the .tel plug-in is downloaded, the BlackBerry address book will allow you to add or edit a .tel domain.
For each contact in your BlackBerry address book, the option to 'Add / Edit .tel' will appear.
   
Once clicked, you can simply enter the .tel domain for your friend.
Enter emma.tel and click add
   
Once the .tel domain has been added, you can look up a .tel domain name and save all the contact details directly in to the BlackBerry address book.
Click 'Look up .tel'
   
 
Choose the contact information from your friend's .tel that you want to Save to Address Book

Windows mobile devices

A downloadable plug-in has also been developed for Windows mobile devices.

This plug-in enables the same features as the BlackBerry plug-in, allowing you to:
Add .tel domains into your address book.  Look up .tel domains from the address book.  Save specific contact details stored in a .tel domain directly into the address book.

All these free .tel plug-ins will be available for download on our website www.telnic.com.

These applications are all open source and developers are encouraged to build and expand upon our existing plug-ins.

As the .tel evolves, new applications will be released that fully integrate .tel onto many more devices.
